Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu paid a working visit to Esenler Mayor M. Tevfik Goksu. Imamoglu had the opportunity to see Turkiye’s largest urban transformation project carried out by Esenler Municipality.
Ekrem Imamoglu, Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), visited M. Tevfik Goksu, who was elected Mayor of Esenler for the fourth time in the local elections of March 31, 2024. IMM bureaucrats and deputy mayors of Esenler Municipality also attended the visit, which took place at Prof. Dr. Sadettin Okten City Thinking Center located in the area where Turkiye’s largest urban transformation project is carried out by Esenler Municipality. Goksu informed Imamoglu about the ongoing urban transformation works and the projects planned to be carried out in Esenler.
Goksu explained the great transformation of Esenler
During Imamoglu’s visit to Esenler, the great transformation of Esenler was discussed. Mayor of Esenler M. Tevfik Goksu gave detailed information to Mayor Imamoglu about the details of Turkye’s largest urban transformation project in Esenler. Goksu explained with visuals the work done so far in Esenler on urban transformation and what will be done from now on. He said that when the transformation project is completed, the whole of Esenler will become safe, and the amount of green space per capita will increase to 21 square meters, which is above the average of developed countries. IMM President Ekrem Imamoglu, who watched Goksu’s presentation with interest, said, “Very good. May God proceed it.”
“We will benefit from Goksu’s experience”
IBB Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu said, “We want to make a strategic plan for the next 5 years. Our Mayor of Esenler is one of the most experienced mayors of Istanbul. I believe that we will carry out important works with his experience. May all the works to be carried out be beneficial for Esenler.”
Introducing the projects planned to be implemented in the new period, Goksu also explained in detail the works carried out and projected regarding transportation and parking problems. Making statements after the meeting, Imamoglu said, “We touched upon important issues in the meeting we held here. Solution proposals such as Ucyuzlu Junction, Atisalani, Nostalgic Tramway, square and parking lots are very valuable. Together, we will try to realize these projects in order of importance.”

Making a statement after his meeting with IBB Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, Esenler Mayor Goksu said, “May your new term in Istanbul be auspicious. We will carry out important works together. We will support our Istanbul with what we will do in Esenler. These meetings are very important and productive. We presented our project proposals to work together on transportation and urban transformation, which are the main problems of Istanbul. We can add significant value to both Istanbul and Esenler by producing solutions with mutual solidarity.”
